They can be worn in office or business settings, and you do not necessarily need a tie. Shirts with a barrel cuff can also be worn alone, without a suit.

French Cuffs

French cuffs are also very common; however, they are not as versatile as barrel cuffs. The cuffs are often secured using cufflinks, allowing you to show your style and personality. French cuff shirts are much more formal. They are appropriate to wear to events like weddings, black tie events, or higher-level business meetings.
